She
She doesn't see him in her dreams
Her nights aren't full of cries and screams.
She's been feeling better every day.
At night she continues to pray.
Her days are full of work and school.
No longer will she play the fool.
Gone from her mind, he lives on
How did she find the nerve to be strong?
She's ahead of the pack
And lies awaiting on the track.
She doesn't sense his presence.
She cannot remember his essence.
With family and friends to fall back on,
She drives ahead and carries on.
He is now but a memory in her mind.
She's stopped remembering all their times.
Gone from her mind he lives on
How did she find the nerve to be strong?
Boys, don't try to win this race,
Cuz she's more than just a pretty face.
