4. Volunteers |
1. Classroom and Office Space |
Due to the overwheleming responce from the general public and the unending outcry to expand our services beyond our immediate vicinity, the need to build permanent strutures continue to be obvious. At the moment, we are operating in a rented space and this continues to be a major budget item. We appeal to the heart and soul of well wishers to come to our rescue. |
NEEDS IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE |
2. Transportation |
As our activities increase and the need to go deeper into the villages to conduct classes, the need for increased mobility has been evident. At the moment we need a Van that can accomodate all teaching material and equipment to enable us start conducting mobile classes within the villages where, our surveys indicate, most of their people dropped out of school at a very early age - hence a high rate of illiteracy. |
3. Office Equipment and Stationery |
Despite the courage that made us start without basic office equipment stationery, as we grow, there is an increasing demand for such. We need computers, duplicating machines, facsimile, portable writing boards, overhead and slide projectors, a myriad of stationery, etc. |
Literacy Aid Uganda was founded by Volunteers and up to now it depends on their unending support. We need volunteer teachers and all other kinds of teaching assistants we can get. We are in the process of contacting schools around Mukono to see if they could encourage their students to volunteer hours at Literacy Aid Uganda which in turn could earn them credit at school. We are encouraging international students who are willing to offer their Summer vacation or are looking for aplace to spend their year aware before College to contacts us. Accomodation can be arranged and generally security is no longer a bid scare in the part of Uganda where we operate. |
