I hired a good friend of mine who works at the body shop to fabricate all the body and cab mounts. This way I feel confident that the body will stay on it longer than if I did the fabricating and welding myself. I also had him weld up the rear frame to the stock frame and touch up where I tried to weld. It was a two hour job getting it into the garage after I got it home, jacking, removing wheels, come along, pulling, cussing, but we got it in. The thing is seven feet tall with the stock wheels and tires. I used the pedel assy from a J20 and a J10 to make the brake and clutch pedels, made clutch linkage and mounted master cyl and booster. Cut 18 inches out of the hood and tacked it together and set it in place to see how it looks. I will more than likely have a one piece front end, hinged in the front. Well the 2003 wheeling season is about over so I can get back to work on this project. Over the summer I was able to mount the proportioning valve and run new brake lines, install all new brakes, made a steering collumn and steering shaft. Got a bunch of pillow block berrings and flat berrings, cut some steering shafts and combined them into a shaft with small u joints to go from the gear box to the collumn. Experimented with u joint angle placement and got the smoothest operation of the shaft. Will dress up the collumn when I do the interior. |
