Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson, Rawhide, Scottsdale, Arizona c. 1990.  He was there for a charity event.  Having always admired him, I hoped to be able to meet him, but only my telephoto lens got me this close.  This is one of the reasons I always admired him, though -- he really was a cowboy.

He won an Oscar (Best Supporting Actor) for his role in
The Last Picture Show, but he often showed up in John Wayne's films.  In terms of roles, his hat was usually neither white nor black, but more of a pleasant gray.  If you've never seen him play a villain, see him as the amiable Bob Emory in One-Eyed Jacks.

Ben Johnson & Shep Wooley
Ben Johnson, some unknown feller (possibly Harry Carey, Jr.), and Sheb Wooley, at the same Rawhide charity event as above - ironic, since Wooley was a regular on the television series Rawhide.  For more info about him, click here.
