A little neglect may breed mischief:
for want of a nail the shoe was lost;
for want of a shoe the horse was lost;
and for want of a horse the rider was lost.  ~Benjamin Franklin
Riding:
The art of keeping a horse between you and the ground.

Five and twenty ponies,
Trotting through the dark --
Brandy for the Parson,
'Baccy for the clerk;
Laces for a lady; letters for a spy,
And watch the wall, my darling,
while the gentlemen go by!
~Rudyard Kipling

Cholo - 7 mos.
If you act like you've only got fifteen minutes,
it'll take all day.
Act like you've got all day and
it'll take fifteen minutes. ~Monty Roberts
My favorite colt.  Cholo, out of Taffy's Whisky, a Half-Quarter, half American Saddlehorse palomino mare, and by Dickey's Buster, a black (or dark brown) bulldog-style AQHA stud.   Besides being a real character, this little guy loved to run!

After Horse Thieves.
  —
The people of Richfield, Kansas; Boston, Springfield, Vilas, Minneapolis and Carriso, Colorado, are taking steps to organize 200 troops to go into the neutral strip and retake the stolen horses and other property and capture the thieves.  The principal object will be to get the thieves, who are said to be fortified in Squaw canon, and persons who have seen the place say that it is a natural fortification, and that it will be hard to dislodge the men who have taken refuge there.  There is a feeling of insecurity all along the border, and people say that they will no longer stand the depredations of the thieves.  There has been a half dozen armed parties of settlers in the strip looking for stolen property, but in each case the attempt was fruitless, and the people of the various towns have now determined united effort to break up the outlaws and regain their property. —

    Don Juan de Como-se-Llama, while trying to propel a bronco, was thrown violently to the ground, dislocating a shoulder, breaking his right thigh bone and bones of left arm.  Do not monkey with the untamed bronco.  St. Johns Herald, August 01, 1889  (3:1).
    The question as to the use of improved stock cars is not that of a
difference between the patented cars but shippers demand a system by which his stock can [be] put on the market in a saleable condition, and the quickest and best accommodations accomplishes that object.  If the railroads build cars of their own better than the patent cars the shipping public will use them in preference to the others.  But one thing is certain, and that is that live stock shippers who have long hauls have found by experience that much is saved in the improved car and in the future demand them for their stock.

~Proverbs 21:31
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. ~Revelation 19:11
Border Sets by Linda
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. ~Revelation 19:14
The webiste where I obtained this "Cowgirl Riding" border set was at Xoom.com, which no longer exists.  I've searched for a new website for this designer, but with no success.  If Linda still has a site, I'd like to link to it.  If you know where it is, please go back to the Contents page and e-mail me.
