Nat King Cole first recorded this song before I was born. My mother always had a radio playing as she worked around the house. I heard this song often, as I grew up. For some reason, I thought it was rather eeeerie, didn't like it, and would go out of my way to change the station or turn off the radio if the song came on. It wasn't until many years later that I heard the song again -- really heard it for the first time -- and appreciated the simple message of its words... maybe one of the most important messages ever delivered.... | ||||||||

Nature Boy | ||||||||
There was a boy, A very strange enchanted boy. They say he wandered very far, very far, Over land and sea. A little shy and sad of eye, But very wise was he. And then one day, One magic day he passed my way. And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings, This he said to me, "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return." (Musical Interlude) "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return." |
