| Finishing the tour of the Great City of Moorgate | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Umm...are you ready to continue through the remaining streets of Moorgate? There are only two more that run all across town, these two from west to east. I think we should start with... AUTUMN WALK As we start by the western wall on this street in the north part of town we notice the big oaks that line it. They give this otherwise rather run-down area some character. The cobblestones are in pretty bad shape, so tread gently. Autumn Walk is rather interesting for shopping. You can find both general merchandise, jewels, magical items and weapons. Other than that it is also an industrial street. In the entire west section of it you can see smoky chimneys rising toward the sky between the huge towering houses. The first thing of real note we find is not until we have crossed Immigrant Street. You will see that a chain fence closes off part of the road here, which is because this is considered a holy site. To the north stands the temple with its shrines to Kali and Anyana, and to the south you will see the arched entrance to the Monks Guild. That's where I live... |

| Next to the Monks Guild, on our right, you see the entrance to Geraldo's famous armour shoppe. If you are rich and famous you will want to be seen there. This entire east part of the street is rather expensive... I couldn't afford to get a house here. As the street starts sloping upwards after Moonstone Street the trees have grown completely out of control. If you ask me that gives this area a rather cosy atmosphere though. Getting up on the hill the east wall stands in front of you. This is a good place to turn around and look back toward town. The view is as stunning as a real large crocodile. Well, I promised we would go back west again so let's do that. But I don't think we should take the same street. Come south with me and we will take a stroll down... COPPER WALK As has been said before, Copper Walk is the main industrial street in Moorgate. The first thing we see is a place that isn't very industrious though, or at least shouldn't be. The graveyard is situated on the left side. On the opposite side is a large mansion which is the residence of one of the master thieves in town. Heading further west we will find the undertakers and embalmers salon of Mr. Swifly and with Style. Outside the salon the street is lined with rather impressive statues of the leaders of the trade union. As we near the intersection with Moonstone Street it might be interesting to know that this is where the old soup kitchen used to be. It is closed now though, I gather they couldn't compete with the delicate flavours of Granny Pickletons servings. |

| The section of Copper Walk between Moonstone and Immigrant is home both to a number of large government buildings and the Rogues Guild, and further west is the main house of the trade union, complete with the private golf course of the factory owner. I'm not sure if it is wise for such a rich man to reside on the street that has the highest density of thieves in town. Oh, umm...anyway... beyond the trade union most of the factories can be found, and also the favoured inn of the workers, the slave labour inn. If you just come there to find something to eat, don't...whatever you do...venture down the stairs thinking there will be more free tables down there. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The tranquility of a chapel helps your soul recover its strength and balance. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The area west of Brent Street is home to most of the people who work in the factories. The windmill can be found here, as well as the old pumping station that has been out of order for many years now. Near the west wall you will also find the cotton mills that produce most of the fabrics for the clothes you will find in the towns elegant shops. The last block before we reach the wall is cramped with chimneys. The largest of the factories are situated here. That's that. We have seen almost all of town now. There is one more place I think we should go though... that is to the quarters of the rich and famous. |

I am glad you have had the patience to come with me this far. And it will pay off as we walk through the most expensive quarters of Moorgate. There are two streets to take note of, the first of them being... LAUREL LANE Laurel Lane opens up before your eyes as you walk through the beautiful archway from Moonstone Street. You can instantly see that this part of town is something else than the cottages and apartment houses you have previously passed by. |

| Luxurious mansion on the east side of Moorgate. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The homes here are large and beautiful, built for the heroic winners of the Olympiad. The marble stonework on the gateways of the houses are nothing but spectacular, most of them covered in reliefs depicting the events of the Olympiad. After a short stroll to the east we reach the center of these quarters, the fountain of olympiad dreams. The crystal clear water of the fountain sprinkles the statuettes of the victors that surround it. The iron fence around it is covered with garlands, and elegant white swans swim about in the water. East of the fountain you should take note of two immense homes standing here, the lawns in front almost as big as the festival lawn in the park. Laurel Lane finally comes to an end by the east wall. Although Laurel Lane must be said to be one of the most stunning streets in Moorgate, there is one who surpass it though, the... |

| WINNERS CIRCLE WAY The Winners Circle Way runs north and south from the fountain of olympiad dreams. The true champions of the tournament have their homes here, and we will get to see some of them. Starting from the fountain and heading north the road we walk on curves in a perfect circle, the houses lining it angled to match. Large iron gateways with marble overhead decorate most of the houses here. In front of us lie three impressive mansions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Parts of Winners Circle Way are like walking in the city park. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| To the northeast we reach a house noticably smaller than the others along this street. The front door of the house is much smaller too. Should you walk up to the house and investigate the entrance more closely, you will see that the door frame has the runes of the rogues guild carved into it. Next to the runes you notice the mark of Merlordd. If we instead were to venture straight north we would come to a well kept garden with a stoned path leading up to the front door. The garden puts a number of funny looking statues up for display, but be careful if you plan on walking up and investigating them. This house was won by Grolsch who was once the guild master of the rogues guild during what is now known as the age of the pouncing jaguar. Today his wife Chastity lives here. The northwestern of the mansions may be the most impressive, but also the most mysterious. The path to the house leads you around a magnificent oak, and there are pretty flowers on each sides of it. As you get near you will notice a silver bell by the door, and a plaque...no matter how hard I try though I cannot read what the plaque says. I've even had the old and wise mage Jorel help me, but not even he could interpret it. Venturing south from the fountain we notice the immaculate front yards of the houses here. Trees, shrubbery, flowers...it's walking in a beautiful park. Two of the houses along this section of Winners Circle Way are of special interest. To the southwest we come to the front garden of a truly beautiful house. A path of stones in different colours leads up to the mansion, roses and lilacs on each side of it. The lawn looks as if the gardener does nothing but tend to it, and almost every time you walk past you will hear the sound of music flowing like a summer breeze from the windows. You are standing in front of Vardas house. She lives here with her husband Laroon, one of the oldest and strongest monks in town. On the southeast end of the street we reach the Lloribharaight residence. Take a good look, not many places in town hold beauty that can compare to this. Two massive willow trees overlook a lush lawn and massive beds of flowers. The lawn is cut off from the street by a picket fence with a vine covered archway leading in to a path that will take you past a small pond filled with fish as well as the odd turtle. The path is edged with red and yellow flowers that always seem to bloom. Whenever you come here you are likely to get at least a glimpse of some of the kittens that obviously are well taken care of. I have once counted to no less than nine kittens at the same time, as well as a rather small dog. This is the home of Rrbhaunoch and Kerineth, both of whom are rarely, if ever, seen in our town these days. I hope this all helps you get a sense of what it is like being rich and famous. Eating in the finest inns, going on vacations to the warmest beaches, and living in mansions like these. That's also all the streets of Moorgate I had planned on taking you through. Maybe I can show you some other sights later on though... |
