GALTHUS
The road home
In the time when our great guilds were still struggling to build the structure and importance we associate with them today, a small sprite walked into Moorgate carrying a difficult and almost unheard of task on her gentle shoulders. She came from the north, from the fields near orc town, and she came to leave a mark of much greater proportions than the size of her feet.

It is common knowledge that Cassandra is of the clan Alana. A clan which, after the worst of crimes having been committed, took an oath to preserve all life...even if it would mean their own. This was generations before Cassandra was born, but the oath still stood unbroken on the day her eyes first opened to look upon Kalis good land.

The oath was passed on to her, or rather, she chose herself to live by it. To heal and protect, instead of using force. After Cassandra was separated from her parents and finally ended up in Moorgate, she came to be the first known pacifist. To my knowledge she never tried to impose her views on anyone who did not share them though, but instead have always let her life act as a balance to the death and mayhem our town is no stranger to.

It is my firm belief this legend would never have become what she is if it wasn't for her background and that choice she once made. While carrying with her the heritage of her shaman mother and her farmer father she has been able to rise in stature and become a prominent citizen in many aspects. To many who roam our lands she is perhaps best known for being the first person ever to enter the second level of the catacombs below the Adventurers Guild without shedding the blood of the one who holds the key. It is even rumoured the very immortals of our lands opened up a portal to make it possible, seeing how her path, though different, led her on to great wisdom and skill.

The biggest mark Cassandra has left in our lands though, must be as the constant chronicler of events...events she has often been the spark of herself. She has frequently served as Guild Ambassador of the Mages Guild, which has given her much insight into the workings of the Guild Masters of all guilds. The knowledge she has gathered in that work has made her able to put together her chronology of the Guild Masters and the brief history of each. She was one of the early contributors to the very first edition of The Observer, editing the Arts & Entertainment Supplement. The knowledge gained during her years there later came to use once more when she in the year 161 stood as Managing Editor of the second edition of the newspaper. Six issues were published before she turned the position over to Invicta in 166.

Cassandra is also known for bringing the ancient Masters Clan to life. As one of its founding members and most dedicated advocate it is difficult to see how the clan would hold its position as the stronghold of fine art today if it wasn't for her. As long as I can remember she has been the Guardian Master Chronicler.

In the early 140's Cassandra was given a large owl as a gift from a wealthy admirer. The owl was named Perseverence, a name suggested by someone who at the time was referred to as a "dear friend...a half-Giant Fighter". In the month of First Growth of the year 146 that dear friend swore to honour and hold her until death do them apart, as they were married in a ceremony held in the hall of the undead. The name of the half-Giant Fighter was, and is, Fjorgynn.

Well known across the lands for her choice of pacifism, there is one incident that puts a stain of pure red blood on that reputation. In an attempt to save the life of her husband from the reputable warlock Vistilantus an incident that put a great mark in the history books of Cosrin took place. As the warlock stood bent over Fjorgynn with a demon's blood dagger pointed at his throat, Cassandra rushed into his tower, and into the midst of the events. To avert Vistilantus attention she flung a pouch containing some herbs toward him. Herbs was however not all the pouch contained...in the middle of the air a mystical dagger leaves the pouch, a dagger the presence of which our legend had forgotten about. Too late the warlock reacts. Before he can move out of the way the dagger is buried in his side, puncturing his lung. Quickly the blood leaves his body...and with it, life...

If that breaks her oath or not I leave for others to decide. Cassandra, sprite shaman, master chronicler, can still be seen in the lands from time to time. If you ever see her, know that you stand before one of the...
