Y'all knew I wanted to get back home Where there's fresh air, and places to roam We had a lot of work to do, to fix our little haven We saw so much beauty, and awoke to the Raven Simply put we were blessed with a paradise With mountains, flowers, and a fish pond that's nice Thought God brought us here for a reason But sometimes it brings the Devil's critters with each season |

Last year the Devil sent this critter to me As I walked bare footed, I almost didn't see He was curled up, resting in the sun It's then I knew my troubles had begun Then he sent the skeinks, a lizard type thing He gave me a fright in the kitchen last spring Thought sweet Buffy and I would almost faint But a favorite critter to me, it sure ain't |

Now it seems to me the Devil wants my attention Thank God he's not welcomed for any occasion Yet he keeps trying to scare me to death Perhaps he thinks I'll give him my last breath While Cowboy worked outside, I went to sit on the swing I needed a cushion to sit on, a simple thing I came into the house, bare footed once more I didn't see this critter lying on the floor |
As I stepped back he got me with his tail You certainly could hear me cry out and wail That tiny critter has a burning sting I called the Doc to give me something He stung me good on my pinky toe I had to do something, but didn't know Bear came a-running, Cowboy and Buffy too I've learned to stay inside a lot, and that's so true |

So if you come a-calling, be sure you let us know We won't take you in the back, no crossing bridge you'll go Come down the road a piece, right into our driveway We'll have some sweet tea for you, and then we'll pray Not only did I get stung, hot boiling water burned my hand Cowboy bought me the colander that I really did understand As I poured out the water, it lost its top Guess I'm not having a good month here, perhaps now it'll stop |
