When I heard the music I just had to dance I didn't know what I was doing, but I would take the chance Mama played the radio, the music I could hear That would start up my feet, and it would bring on cheer Mama took me to meet Lois Wick one sunny day I showed her what I could do and I was on my way Then I learned to tap those shoes, or dance upon my toes It really didn't matter, cause the music led to shows My folks were so proud of me, I went to New York City I met the Rockettes, but there they had much pity My feet were so sore, you see, the blisters told the story I just had to dance around, but that was ok by me It doesn't matter what type of music, I still just love to dance Soon I be going up North again, dance with my sons, by chance So fellas put your dancing shoes on, we're coming home We won't be staying long, ya know, cause we love places to roam |
