Footprints and Heartprints
Copyright Alice E. Steimle - 2002
I shall never forget those days
As we walked the Jersey shore
We made so many footprints
Then we made some more
Two precious babies had I
With tiny little feet
They often smiled at strangers
With their laughter they would greet
Sand castles of sand they built
They both loved the water; intrigued in play
As I sat there and worried some
Lord, watch over them I pray
Soon those footprints grew
They were not little any more
They loved to surf and fish now
Along the Jersey shore
Now they are full grown men
Leaving footprints in th sand
They never knew they left heartprints
Around the world and their homeland
We've travel different roads
Each has a part of my heart it seems
Now I pray once more, Dear God
Please fulfill their hopes and dreams
