Rite of Passage (trips to Tanjong Katong) |
I just love the ECP. Especially the part which links up to the Benjamin Sheares Bridge to give one a bird's eye view of the Southern part of the island Cruising along it with greenery on one side and the shimmery blue reflective surface on the other just makes me all lighthearted and chirpy. You wind down the windows, listen on to the natural breeze rushing in to occupy your vehicle, void of fresh air. The sun begins its morning workout- shining bright and hard on all the vehicles cruising along the bridge, and when its all powerful and encompassing rays hit the water surface, you get reflective bits of sunrays hitting on the waves passing through the harbour, as if Nature's painting could be aptly titled "the morning view". It's hard to concentrate on the cold, concrete roads when you have the most beautiful sight you could set your eyes on in the early hours of the day. At least in SIngapore. I try to slow down to capture everything I can, at once on the in-built camera so that I can look back, remincise and go ":awwww" over it when I have the time to. Alas, the cars behind honk and screech, urging me to step faster than I wanted to, on the second lane of the highway. Any minute now, they are going to overtake me and throw me the dirty look. I wake up from my reverie, discarding everything in my mind, concentrating wholly, trying not to veer off course or undesiredly assaulting someone elses' little precious. Soon, I get off the highway and move onto flat land, deprived of my view of the seas, blocked out by the tall luscious trees and drawn further and further away by the curving roads, which sadly, curve inland than towards the sea. Deprived of my sunshine, I let gloom overtake me while I sulked. It was a mentally refreshing drive- I thanked Mr Sheares for his temporal existence and the head architects of which the bridge was his brain child as I turned off at the Tanjong Katong exit and proceeded with the day's plans.
