Daisy
Our New Little Rascal
Ok, so after Kaiser died, things were really quiet and lonely around the house. We kept feeling like Kaiser was still in the house. We would swear we'd see him out of the corner of our eyes. We just missed him so much. It was hard not having him around after he had been for 13 years.
Kaiser
So, we couldn't even last a week. The whole family decided to go look at what was out there for puppies and the plan was to then come home and research the types of dogs before we decided. Well, yeah, so much for the plan. We got to the pet shop and saw all kinds of adorable puppies, but one just stood out from the crowd. The one now known as "Daisy". We would walk away to check out the other puppies, but kept going back to her.
She was in a pen with 3 yellow lab puppies that were larger than her. She has this fixation with paper (which we later learned the hard way about) and she had managed to find a large piece of shredded paper which was used to line the pen. The lab puppies kept trying to get it from her, but she stood her ground and held her head up high and held on to that paper, even when some of it would get torn off from the other puppies. She had personality!
So, we got to take her out and play with her a bit in a fenced in area. She was so sweet and she had such energy and just loved everyone. That's it, we were hooked. After we started the process of adopting her, we learned that she had been there for a month already. We couldn't believe someone could pass her up and leave her there for a month.
The first night we had her home we started to toss around her toys and she already knew how to fetch. She would bring the toy right back to us and she'd do it with so much pride, you could just tell as she'd come running back with her head held high and her tail just non-stop wagging side to side.
Ok, so now about that fascination with paper that I mentioned about earlier. That is ALL paper by the way.  She somehow finds paper that we have no clue where she got it from. She loves to shred it. Books too, she loves to eat those too. But I think toilet paper is one of her favorites.
I was in my room one day, which is on the other side of the house from the bathroom, and she came running in with the end of the toilet paper roll. The other end, yes, was still attached to the cardboard roll in the bathroom. She managed to unroll and dance around with a whole, brand new roll of toilet paper. If you're not careful, she's also been know to sneak into the bathroom while you're...ummm...taking care of business...and she'll stop, look at you, and then grab the toilet paper and take off running.
So she's now one of the family. She fits in great. She's got such sponk and personality and she just keeps us laughing. She's totally adorable and you can't help but just melt when she's sitting there just staring up at you with those big brown eyes, her left ear sticking out straight and her right ear folded over, with her head tilted just off to the side as she's trying to understand what you're saying to her. All she asks for is to get an ice cube from the freezer whenever you're in the kitchen...it's her favorite treat! She just loves everyone, except that I can't say she'd never hurt a fly, because she loves to eat bugs too!
This is her after I shaved her for the summer. We all though this would be a hot summer. Guess we were wrong. Anyways, I'll never shave her again, she looks too goofy.
Here she sits in her doggie car seat that my mom bought her at the pet shop. I took her on a road trip to the cities and went shopping at a pet store. She's got her own blankie and her favorite toy...her hedgehog.
