Parasailing
Floating
away from the white speed boat
Butterflies
erupting in my stomach
As
the deep blue gets farther away
my
fears begin to face

Slipping
into the harness
laughing
off the nerves
The
guides cracking jokes
as
they tighten the ropes
“I
haven’t had a rope
break
this week yet”
My
smile reveals
the
nerves biting me
Those
tense moments
when
our feet leave the ground
are
so frightening
No
words can be managed
Gripping
and grabbing her arm
We
glide away
The
parachute opens
showing
off its rainbow of colors
Sharing
this experience
with
my best friend
So
great to know
She’s
there by my side
Together
we gather
all
the beauty
Taking
in the smell
of
the clean crisp air
The
wind smells of pine
So
fresh and strong
Staring
down and around
at
the seemingly endless water
The
excitement dying away
as
our feet return home
The
air now filled
with
“oh my Gods!”
The
experience over
But
yet to be forgotten
The
glorious feeling
Of
just floating away
