| BART & CHESTER 5 October 2001* |
| Exactly one week after Holly's death, I was at the Pet Shop buying some food when I spied a tank full of baby rats (all from the same litter). I had convinced myself that I was not getting any more - until I saw these two little guys. Although the shop claimed that they were 7 weeks old I think they were more like 3-4. Chester is a lavender (?) self, and Bart is a hooded. They are a little less caramel than the above photo suggests - more like Bailey's Irish Cream. They are very friendly and active. Chester is thoughtful and dignified, while Bart kinda lives up to his namesake!!! I am hoping when they get a little bigger to introduce them to Timmy. Currently they are the size of his head...... Although they are only tiny, they have picked up some things remarkably fast: Wait until Mum puts us away to pee. That grey stuff is for pooping on. Everything that fits in our mouths is food. At the moment they are sleeping, eating, and playfighting a lot. There are at least 25 fights each day, the honours split evenly between the two. I seem to remember being the same with my little sister! 29.12.01 Timmy did not like Bart and Chester. He wanted to nip them and everyone got a little traumatised (especially me!). So they now live in a lovely big house of their own where they are free to beat each other up all day. Their adult fur is just coming in, so they are a little patchy at the moment. Home |
