YOU DIDN'T LISTEN
BACK HOME
(Another poem written for mrs. anderson's class)
I told you once
and then again
Not to drink and drive
I said that if you didn't listen
Then you wouldn't stay alive

You told me that you understood
And you'd never do such a thing
But later that night at the party
I suddenly heard the phone ring

I hadn't seen you all night
And didn't know where you were
I thought you weren't going to drink
So I was unaware of what had occurred

You thought it'd be cool and you'd have more fun
If you only had a drink
I guess it was the consequences that you didn't think

I'm sitting here by your side now,
But you aren't really here
Only because you didn't think
And you had to have a beer

I lock myself up in my room
'Cuz I want to be alone
Trying hard to hide my emotions,
The ones I've never shown

No best friend to listen
Alothough I wouldn't know what to say
I'm struggling to carry on
And continue with each day

Now I want to inform my friends,
And my family too
When you choose to drink and drive
It doesn't only affect you
