| 8 year old Midsi was abducted on August 10, 2000. She was held captive for days in a car, where she was sexually abused. She tried to pick the shackles that held her with a nail file, but it broke. A few days later, she found the keys to the shackles and ran from the car, screaming that she had been kidnapped. When her abductor came out of the store he had gone into and saw her running, he started chasing her. She jumped into the open window of a truck, where she was helped by a man, who wrote down the lisence plate number of the car the abductor was driving. He was later caught, convicted on 5 charges of kidnapping and sexual assult. He was sentenced to "251 years to lifwe in prison". Midsi's family was happy to have her home, and very proud of what police call her heroic escape, which probably saved her life. They also credit her for the capture of Curtis Dean Anderson, her abductor. Anderson is also under suspions for the disapearence and murder of another child, Xiana Fairchild, from the same town as Midsi, due to the similarity in the abdutions and the apearences of the 2 girls.
