| Terms and Definitions continued S - W Spells/Spellcraft ~ A spell is a set of instructions and/or words used to bring about a specific Magical intent. Spellcraft isthe ability, knowledge and wisdom to know when, as well as how, to perform such actions. Summerlands ~ Witches' name for the place our spirit goes to between incarnations, where we rest, meet those who have gone before and we choose the lessons to learn in our next life. Visualize ~ This is the ability to see in the minds eye so strongly that is does not appear any different from reality. It is not just about seeing for when you are adept at it, it will involve all your senses. For instance eating an Apple. You will feel the fruit in your hand, hear the crunch as you bite into it, smell its aroma, taste the juicy sweetness. Visualization is an important key to working the Craft and Magic. Wand ~ A length of Wood usually equivalent to its owner's forearm. In some traditions the Wand is only used where the Athame is not, in others the Wand and Athame can be interchanged. Widdershins ~ Anticlockwise, sometimes used for cleansing the Sacred Space. Also used for Dark Moon energy working and Shadow work. |
