Xmods (finally!)
The xmod, fyi, is Radioshack's answer to the high quality yet expensive Kyosho Mini-z. At a price of $50 compared to over $100 for similar cars, most rcers would consider this a steal. However, RS had to cut some corners to get the price this low. For one, the 512 step proportional steering on a hobby class rc has been replaced with a barely sufficient 32 step system. Since the car isnt made to standard hobby standards, it is not compatible with other transmitters, regardless of frequencies (though the crystals are compatible with other cars). \

On the plus side, the xmod is possibly more customizeable than the the Mini-z. An awd kit, the first in a car this size, is available, and both the rear and front suspensions are independent. The body kits on the cars are also customizeable, including the hoods and rear wings. The speed is relatively fast out of the box, probably around the performance of a mini-z. Again, the main pro of this car is the low price.

Pros:  low price compared to other rcs, customizeablility, awd kit, independent suspension, ball differentials

Cons: not fully proportional, thus not compatible with hobby TXs. The steering radius is awfully wide unless u make some adjustments to the shocks, motor, tiires, etc.

If this car cost over $100. i would give it a 7/10
But because it doesnt, 9/10
