I built a bridge you would not cross
Though you stood forever on the other side
Watching me
I came halfway
And called your name
Yet you remained
Not seeing me
I crossed the bridge
and stood alone
Your breath upon my cheek
I stood hand out
Untouched
Until I finally walked away

The feel of breath
Hot and sweet
A touch
A tremble
A total loss of self
Last night I could
Smell your scent
on my skin
Almost see you
Through fluttering eyes
Arched back
Curled toes
I could taste you on my tongue
From a thousand miles away

I am not yet fully formed
I am unknown even to myself
What hope do you have of knowing me
Your judgment is final
You dismiss me with a smile
And I remain unformed
Left behind
But better off
For you not having known me
