Had a great time in 2002 in Milwaukee and Minnesota. If you ever plan to go to Minnesota in the summer be sure to check on the status of their 'Army Worms'. These are caterpillers that infest the area on a 7-10 year cycle. INFEST is the correct term. They can RUIN your stay if you are doing much outside stuff, or if your vehicle has an accident because it 'slipped' on the worms.
Other than that, the whole area , Wisconsin and Minnesota are very nice and CLEAN. The rest of us could learn from them.
The California trip that year was very nice. Lorraine's sister's house is beautiful and big, which is standard for them.The coast including Monterey, the aquarium there, the drive down the coast, and the Hearst Castle was all very nice. Visited San Francisco just a l;ittle and even found parking places within walking distance of where we wanted to go. Do NOT take a car to Frisco. The ground transportation is the best in the nation.
We did more wineries and drank more wine than in a normal year. Then poured ourselves onto the plane for home. |

In 2003 Dave refinished the cabinets and countertops in the kitchen. Lorraine went to visit a friend in Seattle for a week - alone. Dave went to revisit his birthplace, Chattanooga, with his older sister Vivian - alone.
At the end of October we took a cruise along with many of our church members. The cruise was 5 nights out of Fort Lauderdale. It visited Key West, Cozumel, and Belize. We re-visited Key West for the first time in at least 20 years. Dave was stationed there from 1968-1970.
We will had a very good time and made some new friends. |
