Services for Duane J. Conklin, 62, of 7678S State Road 19, Peru, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
He died at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in his residence.
Born Dec. 1, 1940, in Logansport, he was the son of Clarence Jay and Agnes Eurora Grandstaff Conklin. He was married on Nov. 22, 1975, in Peru, to Kay W. Smith, who survives.
A valve body worker, Mr. Conklin had been employed at Chrysler for 35 years until his retirement in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting; but most of all, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christina Abney and her husband, John, Kokomo, and Wanda Torrence, Peru; three sons, Michael Duane Conklin and his wife, Kim, U.S. Air Force Base, South Dakota, Craig Emery and his wife, Tina, and Christopher Nethercutt, all of Peru; six granddaughters, Crystal Torrence, Amy Torrence, Kelsey Emery, Crystal Williams, and Kirsten Williams, all of Peru, and Kaylee Conklin, South Dakota; three grandsons, John Michael Conklin and Dalton Conklin, both of South Dakota, and Kyle Emery, Peru; and two brothers, Donald D. Conklin, South Yarmin, Mass., and Harold Gene Conklin, Logansport.
One daughter, Tonya Conklin, preceded in death.
Carla Barker will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel.
