Harold (Skip) Smith was born August 4, 1940, in Logansport. His mother and two sisters live in Logansport, and one brother Terry died in 1982. While in high school, he was an active member of the Explorer Scouts. He retired from the Army/Texas National Guard on November 8, 1995. Harold had experienced heart problems for several years and previously suffered some heart muscle damage. Fishing was a great enjoyment to him and he fished as often as he could. Harold will also be missed by his eleven grandchildren: Mark Julie, Mandy, Adam, Ashley, Samantha, Paula, Lauren, Steven, Nicholas, and Chelsea. (See following picture)
"Skip"
was nearly fifteen when this picture was taken of him on May 1,
1955, as he pointed out something for John Hickman (class of 1957)
to focus on while Mark Armick (class of 1959) took notes. This
was taken just after the formation of a new Explorer Scout Troop
in Logansport, sponsored by the ELKS. Mark was still wearing his
Boy Scout uniform from Troop 208. (most
recent update from sister Bonnie 6-20-07)
