June was the youngest of five children - sisters Marcie, Pat and Jeanetta and brother David, who was sandwiched between the four of us girls.  She was a typical "youngest" child, very definitely blonde at humorous times...or so Dave and I thought, as we teased her unmercifully; not exactly musical as were the rest of us, so we saddled her with a triangle to play while the rest of us supplied cello, clarinet, violin and piano - the family orchestra!  Most of the childhood/growing-up days we kids remember, including June, were spent in the house owned at 2016 Market Street.  That whole block housed many we grew up with - The Boyers, Robbs, Longs, Sheilly's (probably not the right spelling), and a few other families who attended LHS.  The kid count on the block was usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 20+. (The family previously lived across from Longfellow School on 8th Street.)

June was pregnant at the time of her death....with only a few weeks left before delivery time.  I never did meet June's husband, as he was still in the hospital when I came home for her funeral and I had almost no extra time to do anything.  I think he had come to Indiana from Florida, was a musician and therapist who worked at the State Hospital, which, I believe, is where June met him.

Lastly, June loved cats....brought every stray home she could find, with bedtime fighting following between the two of us.  She wanted the cat in the bed we shared, I did not.   A cat's purring makes me want to clear their throat - they sound asthmatic to me, just as I now do cause I do deal with asthma now!  (Payback?)   Anywho...I did break down once to give a homeless cat a home some 20+ years ago, but they're still not my favorite animal.  And to prove their priority with me, it took a whole three days to convince my four kids that the cat really did belong to us after it was brought home!
