Our protagonist / antagonist of the story!! American, and pretty much the opposite of the Count. Leon is the..um...slightly misinformed detective (yeah, yeah--That's it!!). At first he is certain that Count D is running some disrespectful business under the guise of his beautiful petshop (can you see D as a mob boss??), it's quite amusing when he accuses D of selling drugs...though one wonders about that incense he's always burning...-_-;;
Anyway, Leon and the Count actually become friends (though I suspect Leon would venomously deny this), and for some of us they become so much more...*sigh* Talk about a marvelous would-be couple. Um, wait a minute, this is supposed to be about Leon!! *shoos Count D away*

This exclusive shop is managed by Count D, a mysterious Chinese man who appears at once delicate and preternatural. He has a somewhat twisted family *shakes her head*, Putting it lightly, (I'm trying to keep these as 'unspoiling' as possible. You'll just have to get the manga, that's all.) one you learn absolutely nothing about in the OVAs...Okay, okay his Grandfather (who actually owns the Petshop) is seen, but unless you know a little about the manga---you would never notice it.
What D is...is something hard to explain. Later in the manga series it is said that he is a Kami, but that in itself is an indefinite explanation.
He isn't human, that you can be certain of. But even so, he seems to understand humans far better than they understand themselves.
