In Response To: Who Was Your Favorite Character??? (Kezy)

WHAT!!! No one else likes Teen Ling?????  kidding.

My fav character is Teen Ling because I find her the most complex and most interesting of the main female characters in ATE. I also find her the strongest main female character in ATE. I won't go into why cuz I kind of explained it a couple of posts down in "analysis of Teen Ling" and brought it up again in another post on Lik and I'm kind of tired of typing it again.

I like Keung too but only in ATE2 and only after he falls off the building. After that he undergoes a change and I like him more after that. I thought Teen Ling and him made a very sweet couple and there is a certain goofiness about Keung which is very endearing. I absolutely loved the scene at the airport when Keung convinces Teen Ling to stay.

I only sympathised with Lik in the beginning of ATE. But all sympathy ended when he started destroying Teen Ling to get her back. What he does to her is extremely despicable. If you've known people who've been with abusive husbands/partners/boyfriends you might not find Lik the character that attractive. He is more horrible than Kelvin in SOH and even Gallen's character in CBWH.

I liked Helen only after she ditches Tim. I feel it is only after that that she matures and grows up. Before that she was like a puppy dog who had a serious case of infatuation. I really liked the confrontation in the hotel lobby in the Phillippines when Helen tells Tim it's over.

Tim... well, I'm not fond of Tim but he's okay and he's central to the story and themes of ATE. He's the most important character in ATE but not someone I would go out with.  What's with Teen Ling, Helen, Wing Yan and Mei-na????

Michael I sympathised with even after he became bad. But he did kill a lot of people so he needs to pay for it. I did like his ending though and I liked it that he decided to turn back... not a very common ending for the main bad guy in a soap. And it was very sad that he didn't have the chance to make up for his wrongdoings unlike Tim.

I liked Tina too but unfortunately her character isn't that central to ATE. Lisa's okay but she's a little too "wise old man" like for me. Joe was okay but he really annoyed me after his return from the Phillippines. And Barry annoyed me too with the way he ended his marriage with Helen in ATEI.

I'm just talking about characters here. As for the actors, I liked them all except for Suet Nei and Michelle Saram. Suet Nei's acting style isn't my cup of tea. As for Michelle Saram, I think she really really needs to work at it.
