I don't think Tina was an ass in ATEII. In fact, she's always been that way. Tina in ATEI is highly capable and very ambitious. That is part of the reason why Tina and Michael broke up... because Michael wasn't ambitious enough for her.

In ATEII, I think the biggest difference after what happens to Tina in the Philippines is that she is no longer as ambitious although she is still extremely capable. I don't think Tina really wanted to fight with Donald, I think what she was trying to do was gain respect for Joe. Joe in ATEII has become shadow of his former self. While never ambitious, Joe in ATEI was at least dashing and fairly capable and won't let people walk over him. But in ATEII, Joe just sits there and takes it from his brother.

Tina sees that and isn't happy for Joe and she thinks that by defeating Donald and bringing projects to Joe's department it would gain Joe some respect from Donald and the others.

However, when Joe tells her he doesn't want these things and that he wants to leave, she finally understands what he wants and she willingly stops what she is doing to leave with him. Tina in ATEI would never have done that, instead Tina in ATEI would have tried to pressure Joe to stop fishing and be a "man."

Basically, I think Tina's character is actually kinder and more selfless in ATEII then in ATEI. So actually, it's the direct opposite of what you think, Tina's less of an ass in ATEII then ATEI.
