Palace Ornamentation and Architectural Art.
Over the centuries the Koreans have honoured the significant relationship of nature's harmony and have incorporated these interpretations into their architecture.

Korean architectural art doesn't tend to display the grandeur of chinese architecture, or the attention to detaill that japanese architecture displays. Korean architecture is alot me informal in comparison to its neighbours, in harmony with its surroundings, yet still focussing on traditional concepts: aestheticism, motif, technique and form.
This is an example of the careful lattice work that one can see on many of the doors to the palacial buildings..

Each of the doors exhibits an identical formal geometric design, and are held by iron latches and hinges. These ones seem to be back by board or wood, but many others are backed with white rice paper.. the latter however seem to be painted brown, and not green.

Actually these doors are from Kyongbok-gung so they were more than likely constructed (according to traditional style) in the 1980's.
Chinese Calligraphy in Archi-tecture. Ch'angdok-Gung Palace. Chongno-Gu.

This is an example of calligraphy with bricks. My Mandarin is non-existant, so I can't tell you what this character is. Mia ne soyo!
