My mother was a Winters. Her father and mother are Charles Edwards Winters (there's a
sister who died young) and Emma Anthony Black. They moved from Springfield, OH to
Birmingham, AL  around 1916 and both died when I was small. My mother never questioned
her parents about her line but she does remember some things. Apparently, her family is part
of the family that came from England to NC to OH. I don't have very much information on
my g grandparents' names (g grandmother may be Margaret Alice Glover). I do know that
her grandfather was part of The Winters Print & Lithograph Co. or the Winters Art
Lithographing Company (they discovered the 4 color lithographing process) along with
partners C.E.(maybe my grandfather's father since it's the same initials), B.H., J.P., R.P.,
and John G. (Esq.) Winters. I don't know what those initials stand for. The company
displayed in the World's Columbian Exposition, 1893 in Chicago. There is also a place in
Springfield that is called the Winters Opera House/Plaza, something like that, which is
suppose to be related to these Winters. There is a Ben Winters that is related who lived
in Florida.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm going through the information online in
hopes that some of that will help. It's nice to meet some of the other Winters' "cousins".

10. Dan Capizzi

Ok, this is probably a little vague.  I am looking for a George Washington Winters.  He served
in the Confederacy, we think he was from Georgia, probably born between 1820 and 1840,
married ? Duckworth.  Moved to New Jersey after the war, and again to Niagra Falls, New
York.  That's all.  Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

11. Monte Winters

I have finally found two more generations of my Winters line.  I have
included an updated outline below.

The Miami Indians, in both Indiana and Oklahoma, were very helpful in my research but led
me, finally, to the conclusion that my ancestors could not be Miami.  So I struck out on a page
by page census search until I found my g-grandfather, Dallas and his sister in a household in
1870, then 1880.  That got me the Mother, Abigail Fields Fox Winters, and then the Father,
John S. Smith.

Abigails family was pretty easy to cover back a couple more generations but I am having
trouble with John S. Winters's father Thomas.  He seems to have come from either New York
or Vermont prior to 1810 to Darke Co., OH.  Then moving to Preble Co., OH in time for the
1820 census.  Firming up his life is my current project.  Any help would be appreciated.

Forever Searching...
Monte Winters

16. Robin L. Slater

My name is Robin Slater and I am the great-niece of John C. Winters.  I do
not have much information at all on my uncle (I called him Uncle John,
even though he was my great uncle) as to his past or his family genealogy.
He lived in Cambridge, Maryland and was married to my great-aunt, Sidney
Louise Todd.  Uncle John was born February 11, 1911 (where I am not sure).
He passed away August 18, 1999.  I was in the military at the time of his
passing and was not able to come home for the funeral (and the military
didn't consider him to be close enough to be warranted of "immediate
family" in order for me to be dismissed and able to come home for his
funeral).  In either case, upon the end of his being ill, and just before
his death, our family found out for the first time that Uncle John had
been previously married and had 2 children from that marriage.  I do not
know what his prior wife's name was.  I do know they had one daughter
(name unknown, but think it may be Anne or something similar), and one son
(Theodore "Ted" Winters).  I do not know what Ted does...but I know he and
his sister are currently living.  If I am not mistaken my mother seems to
remember that the daughter is disabled and currently lives somewhere in
Salisbury, Maryland.  We are not sure where the son lives, but think it
may be northern Maryland or in Pennsylvania.

I am trying to do research on this family line, and also trying to track
down "Ted" Winters.  When my Uncle passed away he asked that all his
belongings be auctioned off.  Ted was the one who took care of the
arrangements, and I would like to see if he has any family information or
photos...and/or if he was able to salvage any from my Uncles estate.  Also
to find out the auction company he used (they are required by law to keep
a detailed list that is public information as to what was auctioned off
and to whom it was auctioned).

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.  Even if you do not
know Ted, or even know of him...I would still like any genealogy info you
may have on this line of Winters.

Sincerely,

Robin L. Slater

Descendants of Henrich Winters This Generation tree begins in 1669 in Germany and continues through
to the 1900's in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and othet staes.  There are many notes and stories.

Because it is so long, I gave it's own web page.  Please take a look to see if you can make a connection.

There are a total of nine generations, and here is the beginning of it:

Generation No. 1

1. HENRICH1 WINTERS was born 1669 in Germany. He married (1) ANNA MARIA UNKNOWN. He
married (2) ANNA MARIA VEERER April 25, 1726.

Notes for HENRICH WINTERS:

Henirch Winters was a Palatine living on Livingston's Manor in 1709 listed along with 38 others from
there for volunteers in the expedition against Canada in 1711. This expedition was organized to try and
stop the frequent raids on Albany and surrounding areas by the French and Indians during King
Hendrick's War. The expedition, under Colonel Nicholson had travelled only as far as Wood Creek
near Lake George when they learned that a British fleet, sent to attack Quebec and fortify their force of
2,000 men, had foundered in the St. Lawrence River. The expedition returned to Albany in August of
1711, a failure. The lists of men from Annsberg and Queensbury can be found in "The Documentary
History of the State of New York, Vol. III, by E.B. O'Callaghan, printed by Weed, Parsons & Co., Albany,
N.Y., 1850. Most US libraries have the full set of O'Callaghan's history which runs to, I think, 8 volumes.

I am seeking information regarding Henry Winters. He was married to Anna Corker in Alabama in the early 1900's and they
had a son named Harry. He worked for the railroad and may have ended up at some point in Mexico. Anna ended up in Los Angeles in the 1930's. Anna Corker was descended from the Quinlisk family. Henry may have been from Pennsylvania or
Ohio and worked as a strikebreaker for the railroad.
