March 2003-- The Independant Distribution Panel Link Producer Briar Emond is the principal of the production company, Broad Based Productions Canada. Broad Based first feature length film, THE COTTAGE was shot in the summer of 2002 by award winning filmmaker Donnie Mullins. Upcoming features include ABOUT TIME, a character driven mystery, with Eric Stoltz set to direct, and a hockey mocumentary, PUCK HOGS. Briar?s TV slate includes FOREPLAY, a half hour golf series as well as co-producing WEST OFF 69, Mighty Brave Productions? hour comedy series. Briar is comes from a financial/business background and, in addition to the above, is currently on contract with the Ontario Media Development Corporationas (OMDC ) as a tax credit specialist. Grounded in the goal of producing quality entertainment that is both commercially viable and critically acclaimed, Broad Based is working for the advancement of Canadian product throughout the global market. The Hollywood Reporter Aug. 13, 2003 'Fathers' family tree grows by nine By Chris Gardner Bradley Whitford, Samantha Mathis, Kathy Baker, Clea DuVall, Ron Eldard, Gale Harold, John Mahoney, Vinessa Shaw and Barbara Barrie have teamed to star in the indie feature "Fathers and Sons." The project is broken up into three stories, each written and directed by a different helmer: Rodrigo Garcia, Rob Spera and Jared Rappaport. Shooting wraps this week in Los Angeles. "Fathers and Sons" revolves around the intertwined tales of three families who grow up on the same street, focusing on the relationship of fathers and sons. The first section, directed by Spera, features Anthony (Whitford) and Jenny (Mathis) and traces the father-son bond that develops between Anthony and his newborn son over 30 years. The second story, helmed by Garcia, centers on the affairs of an airline pilot (Mahoney) who shares a house but not a life with his wife (Baker). He crosses paths with an unusual woman (DuVall) and spends an extraordinary night with his son (Eldard). The final chapter, with Rappaport at the helm, follows the homecoming of Elliot (Harold) to his estranged family (Barbara Barrie, Joe Bologna and Lisa Edelstein). As his father dies, Elliot meets and falls in love with a woman (Shaw) who sees past his tough-guy exterior. Jessalyn Gilsig, Reiko Aylesworth, Meredith Monroe, Phillip Rhys and Joanna Gleason round out the cast. Mockingbird Pictures' Julie Lynn ("Wit") is producing, with Garcia serving as executive producer. Garcia directed "Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her." Spera's credits include "Last Cry." Rappaport helmed "Blindness." Lynn's Mockingbird also is prepping "Billy Dead," with Keith Gordon directing and Ethan Hawke starring, and "Fortunate Sons," with Jay Hernandez starring and Eric Stoltz directing. Hope this is true!
