11/16/00: A Tale of Karma for you

Back in the day, when I ran a little 'zine -- a real paper one that I photocopied and stapled and mailed -- I was on Ani DiFranco's zine publicity list and I got a few of her CDs for free. Nice but I already had a copy of that live double CD (Ani's allover best) "Living in Clip." I had it lying around on the back seat of my car for a few months.

Then I met a nice girl at the coffee shop in my home town, and she said she didn't have Living in Clip and was too in debt to buy it. So I gave her the copy and completely made her week. She was SO happy. :)

Then a few months later I went to go see Ani at Summerstage. I didn't have a ticket but I thought maybe I could scalp one or sneak in or something. This man walked up to me and said, "Do you need a ticket?" I said, "yeah, how much?" he said, "it's okay, just take it, my girlfriend couldn't make it," and just walked away.

Not only were the dollar values about the same for the CD and the ticket, but they were both Ani-related. You can tell me all you want it's a coincidence. I say it's karma, dammit! :) (And once I was inside at the concert, I ran into some friends of mine I hadn't seen in a while, and they gave me a piece of their blanket. One of them had a sore throat and I had cough drops, and another one had a headache and I had advil, so I think the whole thing was planned, don't you?)
