In My Imagination
by Barbara C. Floyd

I love you
and I hope you knew that
while you were here.
The thought of you
not knowing that,
to my eyes bring a tear.

In my imagination,
your death I can not see.
For in my mind,
your still here joking
and cutting up with me.

You see, I can still remember
when you were just a boy.
In fact, the day you were born,
I bought you your first toy.

Many years
from the day of your birth,
I'd come & play with you.
Even after your mom and dad
found a new town to move to.

You were always such a mess.
You brought joy to the lives
of those you knew.
And in my imagination,
I can still reach out and hug you.

In reality,
your in a far much better place.
But here in my heart
your death was such a waste.

I can see pictures of you
as a little boy
and that doesn't bother me so,
yet in my imagination,
I see the man
I know you'd have become
and I wish badly
you hadn't had to go.

This has been much harder
than I thought it would be.
I guess I loved you more than
I thought was capable for me.

It hurts too bad in reality,
so I try to stay
within my imagination,
for there you still exist.
In my imagination,
there's no pain,
no sorrow, no tears,
for there those things I resist.

So when I begin to feel blue
because I can hug you no more,
Into my imagination I go
where forever my heart can love you
Oh! so much more.
