Things that the Haynes manual doesn't tell you about RZs!

- IS THERE ANY WATER IN YOUR RADIATOR?

Looking at the overflow bottle tells you nothing!

I melted down a motor by believing the manual... and by not actually removing the rad cap and checking the fluid level. Push the end of a small flexible rubber hose into the radiator (through the rad-cap opening) and blow gently. If you hear bubbles, then the fluid is there.

Don't overfill the rad, either! Leave a small air gap at the top (two inches or so) -- otherwise, the excess fluid will blow back into the overflow bottle (and if it's already full, it makes a mess!)

- WHY IS A CLOUD OF GASOLINE BLOWING OUT ONE TAILPIPE?

The spark plug lead is not connected on the other side. Yes -- these twins will easily fire up and run on just one cylinder.

- CAN I PUT WIDER TIRES ON AN RZ?

Don't go more than one size wider than stock on either tire! If you do, the contact patch (the part of the tire actually touching the ground) will be smaller than with stock tires fitted.

- BOOST BOTTLE FOR AN RZ

Mark "The Flying Dutchman" says that a boost bottle with a volume of 450cc (that connects the two intake manifolds) is about right for getting a boost at 8500 rpm on his 1990 RZ. Thanks Mark!

If you have any more RZ tips or tricks, please email them to me at lornevogt@hotmail.com (or post a message in my guestbook). Thanks!
