Lucille Desiree Ball was born on August 6,1911, in Celeron , NY. Growing up ,Lucille had a somewhat restless childhood.She longed to go out and "make some noise" , which still echoes around the world.At 15 Lucille went to a dramatic school in NY and was thrown out for a lack of talent. But somehow, Lucy always knew she would someday make it as an actress.She didn't give up.In the mean time she took a job modeling at Hattie Carnegie's boutique. She moved to Hollywood was soon cast as a chorus girl in her first picture, " Roman Scandals ".Bigger parts followed,but she eventually became known as the "Queen of the B movies".She was transferred from RKO to MGM, and there the studio decided that her flaming red hair, beautiful blue eyes, and fiery red lips, she was perfect for Technicolor. She was then given the nickname "Technicolor Tessie".It was while Lucy was completing her movie "Dance, Girl Dance" that she met her Cuban Valentino, Desi Arnaz.Tehy were soon married, and more than anything they longed to work together, but every studio and company said that Americans would never accept that all All-American girl like Lucy was married to a Cuban.So to prove them wrong , they put on a Mr. and Mrs. Vaudeville act. During this time Lucy was working on a radio in the popular radio sitcom "My Favorite Husband". She and Desi finally got the chance to work together, and took it. I Love Lucy was born. After 5 years of being number 1,Lucy and Desi got tired of the rigorous grind of weekly shows, so they made 13 hour long comedy specials, the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour". This lasted for three years, and came to an end when the couple divorced in 1960. Even after the divorce, Lucy and Desi remained best friends and loved each other immensely.Lucy remarried to stand-up comedian Gary Morton, and Desi remaried a woman named Edith Mack Hirsh. On December 2, 1986, Desi died of lung cancer.Lucy went on to make more shows,such as "The Lucy Show","Here's Lucy", and the short -lived "Life With Lucy". On April 26,1989, a sad day for every person around the globe, we lost our beloved redhead to a ruptured aorta at Ceders-Sinai Medical Center at 5:27 A.M, at the age of 77. The life of Lucille Ball led was remarkable, but the legend she left behind wa even more phonomenal. Lucky for us, we have reruns of I Love Lucy to constantly remind us of what a great comedienne and person Lucy was. She lives on forever in our memories and our hearts.Her life may be over but her fire will never burn out. Her legend is one that is so sensational so timeless, that it will never die, no matter what day, week, decade or century. Lucy's legacy of laughter keeps her forever alive in our cherished memories. A BRIEF HISTORY OF LUCY'S LIFE -August 6,1911: Lucille Desiree Ball is born -July 1933: Lucille embarks on her journey to Hollywood to be in her first picture, "Roman Scandals". -November 30,1940: Lucille Ball weds a handsome young Cuban named Desi Arnaz at the Byrum River Beagle Club. -June 19,1949: Lucille and Desi remarry in a catholic ceremoney August 15,1951: The first episode of " I Love Lucy" is filmed before a studio audience. -July 17, 1951: Lucie Desiree Arnaz is born to her proud parents -January 19,1953: Desiderio Alberto Arnaz IV is born, and on teh same night Ricky Ricardo Jr. is born and makes television history. -March 3,1960: Lucille files for divorce from Desi on grounds of "severe mental cruelty" -November 19, 1961: Lucille weds comedian Gary Morton -April 1989: Lucille is rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for heart surgery. -December 2,1986: Lucy loses the one true love of her life . Desi Arnaz dies of lung cancer at his home in Del Mar. :**( -April 26,1989: The world's greatest comedienne succumbs to a ruptured aorta.Looks like Heaven needed a laugh.
