03/07/2002 Associated Press Newswires Copyright 2002. The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Lucie Arnaz, daughter of the late comedienne Lucille Ball and actor Desi Arnaz, announced plans Thursday for a bigger museum dedicated to her parents. Arnaz said she intends to leave their memorabilia in Jamestown, 58 miles south of Buffalo. She said a new not-for-profit group headed by her and her brother, Desi Arnaz Jr., will take over operation of the Lucy-Desi Museum, with plans to open a larger museum in the next few years, possibly with a theater attached. The storefront museum opened in 1996. During a news conference at the Holiday Inn in Jamestown, Arnaz said her family has bid on her mothers former home in the nearby Chautauqua County village of Celoron. The two-story house at 59 W. Lucy Lane has been for sale on e-Bay. It was Lucy's home from the time she was 8 years old until she was midway through high school. The asking price was $98,500. It has been a stop for many tourists over the years, especially during the annual Lucy-Desi Days in Jamestown. i got this info at LUCYTALK.COM |

Lucy a girlscout? ARTICLE |
"Our radio appearance on KAAT in Fresno on 5/18 was so successful that Tom Watson is seriously considering starting a 24-hour Lucy radio station on the Internet. Twice a month we would have a live 2- hour program that would include guest celebrities, and listeners can actually call in while the program is being broadcast to chat and ask questions of the celebrities, and the last 30 minutes of each show would be The Ultimate Lucy Game Show, where callers can call in as contestants and win Lucy merchandise by guessing answers correctly, which would be hosted by me, just like at our conventions. These events would take place once or twice a month and then be recorded and placed on the site so that they can be accessed any time day or night on demand. The additional hours during each broadcast day would be filled with music shows by Desi Arnaz, and perhaps original broadcasts of My Favorite Husband, as well as recordings of panel discussions from the six years we did them at our conventions, and more along the same line. The station would be available on the official We Love Lucy web site, http://www.lucyfan.com/, and would be accessed by entering a User ID and Password. To offer this service, there would be a monthly charge of say $10.00 or $50.00 if paid in 6- month increments (one month would be free). The monthly fee would then entitle the subscriber to access the station day or night, participate in all of the live shows, and choose anything in the archives to be played on demand from start to finish. An investment into this is going to be costly, so Tom needs to know if there are enough people out there willing to sign up for the service. If you can post something to the Yahoo group and ask those who would definitely want to subscribe to please e-mail Tom at info@lucyfan.com, he'll then have an idea as to how many people are interested and we can proceed forward." |

Big news from Lucille Ball's hometown. It's festival time, once again! Everyone at The Lucy-Desi Museum is hard at work for "Lucy's Birthday Celebration" which will take place August 2-4. He has just signed a very special celebrity guest as the headling event for the festival. He said that he hopes to have the complete festival brochure online by next Saturday (Check the website at www.lucy-desi.com for the details as they unfold). Believe me, this is going to be one great weekend. For fun, the Museum is going to be providing a new clue everyday for a week--starting Monday. Next Saturday, the Museum website will announce the headliner and at that point will begin taking ticket orders for the festival. While Ric wouldn't even tell me who the celebrity is yet, he guaranteed it's someone we all know. Here's the first clue: Like Lucy, the mystery guest had an Emmy Award winning show. Ric also said that this mystery guest has written nine books and is a frequent guest on the late-night talk shows. Check the Museum website for daily clues starting Monday...and make plans to be in Jamestown for the one-and-only Lucy festival this year. |

The latest from The Lucy-Desi Museum. In addition to the special surprise headliner scheduled for "Lucy's Birthday Celebration," Irma Kusely and Wanda Clark will both be on hand. The event is going to be called "Papers & Pincurls: An Initimate Afternoon With Lucille Ball's Secretary & Hairdresser." I also found out today that Lee Tannen, Mike Karol, and Tom Gilbert will be part of the Saturday morning Authors Forum and that the Lucy-Desi Fan Reunion will take place Friday night at Lucille Bal Memorial park in Celoron. There will be over $2000 in door prizes given away during the weekend. |
Here's the latest from the LUcy-Desi museum Artist Gary Peters will be unveiling the third in a series of outdoor wall murals featuring Lucy Ricardo. He hopes to have it done in time for the festival. It's going to be facing City Hall on the corner of Third Street and Spring Street. Linda Koast and Sue Wolfe will be on hand with Gary as "working artists" creating original Lucy artwork during the weekend. Linda Koast's work has been licensed by CBS and is currently for sale as limited editions. She has donated one of her $500 Candy Factory designs to serve as a giveaway during the festival. That should make one person's trip worth while. I also understand that at the fan reunion on Friday night there will be $500 worth of Rocky Mountain Chocolate door prizes...but I'm the host of the fan reunion and I'm gonna make people work for their chocolate so get ready to share your most embarrasing "Lucy" moment. |
"The Long, Long Trailer" is going to be shown on the big movie screen at the Reg Lenna Civic Center during the Lucy festival in August. The event is scheduled to take place at 8pm. |
