Procrastination.
This was the word of the day for our meeting
for December 13. What does it mean?
To me, it means putting something off until a better time.
Apprehension.
Apprehension may refer to a fear, sometimes vague, that obsesses
and keeps one anxious about the future*.
Chaos.
A state of utter confusion completely wanting in order, sequence,
organization, or predictable operation*.
Do
these three words go together when we think about doing something like preparing
for a speech or an obligation but have mixed feelings about the outcome?
When we procrastinate, isn’t because we are apprehensive, and the
results are chaos? Well, maybe not
all the time. When things don’t get done, maybe – just maybe, there is
something more going on.
Open
Meeting: To Boise Corporation employees and other tenants of the Boise Plaza.
This will be held on January 24, 2008 during
our regular meeting time of 12:05 p.m. Guests
are welcome. Please come to the Boise
Plaza 1 W AV room. This is the same
room where we held our debate whether to move to Twin Dragons for those of you
who attended that meeting. It is a
nice, big room!
Officers
Bi-Annual Training: Officers bi-annual training is coming up again
in January. We will get a ribbon if
all four of our officers attend this!
It will be held January 12, 2008. Location announcement at the next
meeting.
Commitment
to Toastmasters:
Karl gave a talk about committing to Toastmasters.
That means commit time to going to the meetings and commit time to our
goals. He handed out a check list,
“Pick a
Direction, Your G.P.S. to Toastmaster Success” that spells out the
club goal list, and “Lunch
Rappers Commitment” which lists our individual goals.
We need to make our club a vital and growing club!
But
don’t forget about your individual goals?
For instance, Mike achieved his Competent Communicator award this last
year. James, Dave, and Becky are
well on their way to achieving that distinction in 2008.
Christmas
Party: We did have a get together on December 1 at
the Sockeye Grill, with Laura, Karl, Lynn, and Becky in attendance.
Though the company was small, the food and time together was excellent.
But because we wanted something bigger, the four of us decided to have a
gathering after Christmas. So at our
December 27 meeting, the original four of us gathered, and were joined with Elke
and James, and we all enjoyed lunch in the
Boise
Plaza
cafeteria.
New
Members/Guests
In
November, we had, as our guest, Brittney, who spoke to the group about club
goals. Brittney is from the Boise
Bible College Club, is a new Toast Master member, and did a phenomenal speech.

Due to my procrastination, I was unable to get out a
newsletter for September/October. This
is why the birthday’s for that time period are listed in this newsletter.
They are very important!
