Have greatly supported the building of the
BANDROOM
Whangarei District Brasses NEW
Firstly a big THANK YOU must go to our very own WALLY BURNS for the amount of time and effort he has put into the building of this his second bandroom, the first being his old Band in Masterton which Wally is a life member.
Wally has been with the Whangarei District Brass as an Eb bass player for????? years. When the band found out that we had to move due to noise readings being to high for us to control, Wally offered his expertise in the building area and along with other tradesmen we have in the band got to after the selling of our old premisis and the buying of the new building which needed changing.(ALOT)
All the following are playing members,
Don Morris.       Bricklayer.
Brian Salmon.     Plumber.
Arthur Tucker.   Handyman.
Cliff Chisam.      Handyman.
John McKenzie   Admin. (Tea Boy)

Then there was the rest of us.....................Well Wally got us going on the working Bee's, firstly pulling the old Roof structure down to make way for the new, then it was with paint brushes in hand we went to and stained all the rafters and the new brickwork. Wally spent hours hagling with the Whangarei Trades people who where great with their prices which allowed the task to be completed sooner.
Of course money has to come from somewhere and Vic Baughen our treasurer sure new how to apply for funding, thanks Vick for a worth while effort.
NOTE: All members of Whangarei who have helped us will be mentioned later.
