Darius was  son of Arsamos. he was the last of the Achaemenides Dynasty. He took his throne  in 336 B.C. with the help of Vagoas. Darius was  a  very handsome and good looking man with gentle character. He had many military skills  but not enough to protect his country from Alexander. He was defeated by Alexander the Great  in the battle of Issus, 333 B.C. and  in the  battle of Gaugamila, 333 B.C..  Darius  with the rest of his army  moved  to the eastern part  of Persia  to the Caspian Gates. However  he was a victim  of conspiracy. The leaders of his own army, Vissus, Navarzanos, and Varsaentis arrested Darius  at the Caspian Gates  and they wanted to use him  to negotiate peace with  Alexannder.  Alexander the Great became very angry  when he learned Darius arrest .He chased the conspirators but they killed  the Persian  King. Alexander punished the conpirators and buried Darius with  king honours  and he dealed  Darius  family with generocity.
