Train Ride to Amsterdam
10-30-02 (7:45 AM) -- Well, I am on the train still!! I got right on at 10:17 PM last night, and found a cabin that only had one person in it. Her name was Virginia, and she was a hot 30-year French woman. She knew a little English, and was able to understand simple conversation. I used a little French to introduce myself (name, where I'm from, etc...). She bought me an espresso, and this other guy came in and talked with us. He spoke French, Italian, English, Spanish, and German. He was from Syracuse, Italy and works in the petroleum business, so I guess he needs all of those languages. Most of the time, they talked in French, so I just smiled and listened, hoping to at least kinda pick-up on what they were talking about. If only Jason was here with his two years of French!!

Around 1:00 AM, we went to bed. The seats pull out to a short bed...
here's a diagram
(that I drew in my actual journal).

I woke up at around 4 and never really got back to sleep. Virginia got off the train somewhere, and multi-language guy hopped off in Luxembourg. Two German ladies came into the car for a while, but they also got off somewhere...I don't remember. I spent most of the time laying down pretending that I was sleeping, since you're more likely to have people pass by your car and not come in and disturb you if they see someone sleeping.

We just passed a 30-car train all filled with different colored Mini's, with white roofs and hoods. I ate a Zone bar and a roll with jelly (that I still had left 'stolen' from the Verona hostel) for breakfast around 7:15. If everything goes as planned, I should get to Brussels, Belgium at about 9:30 AM, and then I'll catch a train to Amsterdam as soon as possible. Hopefully, I can get there around 12:30 - 1:00 PM and hopefully Cottrell and Mike will be there to meet me. I tried to call, but Cottrell must have the phone off. Well...later.
