Trip Home & Wrap-Up | |||||||
11-02-02 -- 10:34 AM -- Well, I'm back in Macerata. Now I'll let you know how I got back. Thursday morning (10-31-02), Jeff and I ate a small breakfast, packed up, and checked out of the hostel. We walked straight to the old Heineken Brewery (not still in use) and paid 7.50 Euros for a tour called the 'Heineken Experience'. It was pretty cool and I'd recommend it to anybody, especially because you get 3 fresh Heineken's at bars placed throughout the tour. Plus at the end, you get a free gift (a 1/2 pint Heineken glass that comes in a nice tin). We bought some souveniers and by the time Jeff and I left, we both had small buzzes going. We stopped in Wondelpark and shared the last joint. I had three hits and felt nothing. Jeff then threw away all the roaches, and the few shrooms that he had left from him and Mike. We walked to the train station and waited outside on a canal bridge until about 30 minutes before our scheduled departure time. We got on the train and were in Brussels in about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Then we got onto our train to Milan and headed straight for ourcabin with couchettes (mini-bunkbeds). I probably went to sleep within one hour, and slept pretty much non-stop until about 6:20 AM on Friday. The only time I remember waking up was when the Custom's officials came into our car to search the bag of an African lady who was on the other side of the cabin from Jeff and I. In the morning, I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and got a coffee. Swiss customs came on with drug dogs, so it's a good thing that Jeff got rid of his leftovers. We got to Milan right on schedule and caught the next train to Ancona. There was this really hot blonde girl in our cabin, (who was 19, because I asked her, once again using my Italian), so I got to keep catching glances every once in a while. Yummy! We got off the train in Ancona, caught the next train to Civitanova, and then took the bus back to Macerata. We got back around 5 PM, to find Greg already home. I took a hot shower to try to relieve some sinus pressure that had been troubling me for the past few days (turned out to be 3 inflamed nerves). Then I made pasta with mushrooms, broccoli, and funghi/tartufo sauce. It was damn tasty! Then I laid down and fell asleep immediately. I woke up at 1:30 AM to find Jeff and Greg gone, probably out at the bars. I got up this morning at 9, took a shower, shaved, and bought some essentials from the shops across the street (an apple, 6 eggs, a can of corn, and 3 cans of tomato sauce) and made scrambled eggs with chopped up tomatoes, bits of ham, shredded cheese, pepper, salt, and a dsah of Tabasco sauce. I'm probably not going to do much today, since I don't have any homework, since mid-terms were right before break. Speaking of mid-terms, Italian language was a cinch (90 or higher), Video class I think I did OK on (low A / high B), Cinema class was an essay (low A / high B) and no exam in Painting or Cross Cultural. Well, I'm off to do a whole lotta nothin'! Probably laundry and organizing all of the shit that I brought home. Ciao! |
