The walls close in around him and he’ll face another test
He’s given this life his fair share, and been beat up with the best
Frozen memories, like pictures trapped in time
Words exchanged in silence, but they never seem to rhyme.
He’ll have no regrets leavin this place. A world so dark and unkind
Cuz it’s easier to be the leaver. Than the one who’s left behind
She said goodbye to family, with a tear fresh in her eye
Excited to be traveling, and to fly the friendly sky
Mom and dad they waved, till the plane flew out of site
Driving home in silence to face another quiet night
She’s off to see this great big world and seek shelter in her mind
Cuz it’s better to be the leaver than the one who’s left behind
Johnny got his license, and strapped on his old guitar
Said goodbye to Jody, from his brand new shiny car
Jody watched in anger as he drove off in the sun
Another desperado. His life had just begun.
Jody watched the sun set, as shadows filled her lonely mind (and thought)
It’s so easy to be the leaver than the one who’s left behind
The old man sits alone, his cigarette slowly burns away
His phone no longer rings, and the children no longer come out to play
He thinks about his lifetime, and why he got this far
Radio plays song he used to sing to in the bar
Searchin for the answers that he will surely never find
It’s so easy to be the leaver than the one who’s left behind
