Clint Eastwood Watching the music video still takes me back to the day I first saw it on Dutch MTV. I saw that it was a cartoon and that made me interested enough to watch it some more. I also saw the title and thought, "Hey, a song about Clint Eastwood, that sounds cool." The very beginning seemed pretty dull: just some dudes playing instruments on a white background. Yawn. Then 2-D started singing and I thought "Woa, this is some pretty cool stuff." Then of course the genie appeared and I thought "Aw, this is a rap song, so much for that." Cue zombie gorillas. And you gotta admit, they're insanely disturbing. Hey, don't blame me, that's what I noticed, and when you're trying to decide if you like the song, this can seriously count against it. Then of course the song keeps going, and it's pretty cool at the end. So I thought about it, saw it once or twice more on MTV, and then downloaded it on a horrible application that loved crashing my poor innocent iMac. Because of this flaw I got very few songs, so the ones I had saw a lot, and I mean a LOT, of play. That in turn means that I was listening to Clint Eastwood until I had it memorized and actually knew the lyrics better than most lyrics sites, which propogate what I know to be a mystake in the lyrics. And as time went on and more Gorillaz songs came up, I decided that they were cool because they were a British band, because they were cartoon characters, and because their songs were cool. Unfortunately there's been a steady drop in their quality of music videos since Clint Eastwood: oh well, right? |
