The Crow This otherwise excellent movie will forever be intertwined with the death of Brandon Lee. This makes the movie more tragic and emotional, especially since it already deals with death and coming back from the dead. I still can't watch it without my heart bleeding for Brandon Lee. If we don't focus on his death though we can see that the movie is quite good on its own. The story is quite good, but the first time I watched it I didn't really appreciate it. I guess I had expected a bit more complication in the plot. I have to admit that the plot is very straightforward, but once you expect this it helps you appreciate the movie. The coolness factor of the Crow character is one of the best things about this movie. Who wouldn't want to come back from the dead and kill the people who killed you? The first time I watched this movie, I liked two of the lines and they stayed with me. The next time was after some Blood 2 playing, and I noticed that one line appears in Blood 2. The third time I saw The Crow I noticed two more lines that are also in Blood 2. So, in order, these are the quotes: It can't rain all the time. Jesus Christ? Stop me if you've heard this one. Jesus Christ walks into a hotel. (Ow.) He hands the innkeeper three nails and he asks, 'Can you put me up for the night?' Guess it's not a good day to be a bad guy, huh, Skank? Victims, aren't we all? They're all dead. They just don't know it yet. Everyone knows that Brandon Lee died during the filming of this movie. What got lost somewhere along the way is that The Crow was made based on a comic book. That's right, along with all the crappy, forgettable comic book movies, this one somehow rose above to the point that it actually eclipsed the comic book. That being said I'd be glad to claim that this is one of the best comic book movies ever made. |
