Recycled Christmas

MAC Roots & Shoots is providing a new take on an old holiday tradition .... decorations! We have tables in the MUSC Marketplace and we will be selling christmas ornaments that have been hand crafted by a number of local artists. What's the catch? They're made out of recycled lightbulbs! Not only are they environmentally friendly, but they're full of holiday cheer. These ornaments make amazing tree decorations or stocking stuffers. We will be in the student center from 10 -3 on

But wait, that's not all. Not only will be have lightbulb decorations for sale, we will also be selling paper bead jewellery. These lovely pieces are handcrafted by groups of Ugandan women - financed by micro credit grands through JGI Canada. Each item sold provides economic alternatives to those who formerly supported their families through poaching, deforestation, and over harvesting of natural resouces.

As always, all proceeds raised go directly to JGI Canada.

MAC Roots & Shoots is an MSU recognized and funded club based out of McMaster University. MAC Roots & Shoots is also a part of the Roots & Shoots network, a youth driven movement backed by the Jane Goodall Institute. Roots & Shoots groups are found in over 90 countries world wide and each group focuses on issues involving the human community, the animal community, and the ecological community. At McMaster we work to educate the student body about current issues and strive to involve them in helping to make the world we live in a better place for everyone.
