My Trip to Tahiti
The Airline Trip there(An ironic tale worth reading)
It was a blustery day in Seattle and my fiance and
myself were off on a romantic week long cruise around the islands of Tahiti.
We were to arrive the next morning, have a one night stay over and were then
off to join the other 40 couples (advertisers for a KIRO AM trip) aboard the
beautiful 440' four masted sailboat the Windsong.
Our trip would start in Papeete, then to
Huahine, Riatea, Bora Bora,
Moorea and back to Papeete again for the flight home. We departed from
Papeete after a really strange flight(link to that story is above).
We caught our cab and headed to the hotel, it was beautiful out, the palm
trees, the fresh sea air and the smells of fresh tropical flowers. We arrived at
our hotel. It was a large hotel on the water.
We had dinner out by the water, and watched the live Dancers perform for us.
We met up with the rest of our group of advertisers the next morning for your departure to the boat. It was such a wonderful day out, the
warmth of the sunshine apon us.
We boarded our ship, we were given directions to our staterooms.(They really were staterooms) The boat
headed out to sea early in the evening. We watched the lit up Papeete as we left the island for our other destinations.
We woke up the next morning, had a wonderful buffet breakfast up on top deck of the ship, everything was so calm, the ocean smooth as
glass that morning as we pulled into port of Huahine.
We decided we wanted to go horseback riding up the hills of the island that day.
About 8 of us headed to the stables, met up with our guide. The guide asked if any of us were experienced riders and I guess only my
fiance and myself were actually experienced riders. The guide showed us to our horses and we all mounted them eagerly ready for our
great adventure into the hills of the island.
We went up into the hills, basicly we were riding along a path of a cliff, we looked
down towards the ocean, further along we could see down to our
ship. This was a wonderful three hour ride, we went up hills dodging
vanilla bean plants and came back down the hill and had nice lunch at a thatched roof shacked restaurant soaking up the peacefulness of the island.
