My name is Deirdre Petrie of Makara Chinese Cresteds.  I have been actively breeding and showing dogs since 1975.  My initial involvement in the dog show world was with Afghan Hounds and Salukis.  In 1986, I obtained my first Chinese Crested and have been active in the breed ever since.

Because of my strong influence in breeding sighthounds, I have adapted the same breeding philosophy in breeding Chinese Cresteds.  I strive to obtain an elegant, stylish, flashy Chinese Crested that is not only pretty to look at, but also possesses the beautiful reach and drive and ground covering movement often seen in Sighthounds.

 

I am very proud that Makara has 70+ champions to our credit as well as numerous Makara kids who have ranked in the top ten in the country over many years.  Makara Chinese Cresteds have provided the foundation dogs for numerous Chinese Crested breeders throughout the United States as well as other countries.  You will see Makara dogs in the pedigrees of many websites you research.
