After finishing her first year of high school, Amanda sat down to think about what she had accomplished so far this year. She thought. And thought. And thought some more.  She decided to make a list, and post it on her website (it was a wonderful site), for grade nines of the past, present and future. Here is that list:

-You will probably do something extremely stupid during your first week of high school.  You may decide to wear a mini skirt and heels and walk down the stairs, right where the roof leakes, causing you to slip and fall. Not a good thing to do when you are wearing a skirt.

-You will have at least one teacher who you think is crazy, and who thinks you are a delinquent. For the sake of getting good marks, avoid conflicts with teacher.

-Although elementary school teachers tell you that teachers won't chase you down until you hand in your homework, they will.

-Don't tell anyone AT ALL that you think the guy who sits bhind you in you art class (or whatever other class) is cute-> it'll take exactly 23.5 minutes before he finds out, or someone somewhere thinks that she shall set you up on a blind date with him.

-Don't ever punch a locker, also don't kick it unless it is absolutely necessary- it may not help to open it, but rather make it stay shut longer.

-Do not write your locker combonation on the back of your lock, take the sticker off! Also, don't write the number down on a notebook, then leave the notebook in your locker.

-Keep your notes until the end of the year, or semester.

-If nobody in the class does a particular assignment, then the teacher will BE SURE to put it on an upcoming test/midterm/exam.

-Never go to a dance when it is scheduled to start- unless it is semi-formal or prom. Do show up early to things such as fashion shows, because they tend to fill up and you want a good seat :)

-Don't wear brand new clothes on the first day, only grade nines do this, and believe me-> you can tell! Instead, buy clothes gradually, and if youmust have new back to school clothes, throw them in the washer once or twice before wearing them.

-Always bring an extra shirt with you, just in case.

-WASH YOUR GYM CLOTHES REGULARLY!

-Don't eat cafeteria food- it's overpriced leftovers :(*)

-have fun... but not too much, you're only in ninth grade for pete's sakes!
