Jen Bergum - Sabine Being invloved in this show, I've learned so much about women in society and myself. We go through so much and go to great lengths to be accepted. It's time the world woke up and started seeing women for who they are not what they look like. This show was a very liberating experience for me on so many levels. It gave me a chance to look at myself, and it made me realize what I am, rather than what I am not. Last semester I was fortunate enough to be enrolled in Dr. Pamela Parkinson's women's studies class. Much of what I learned in the class has been carried over into my performance. Thanks Dr. P! I've also learned a great deal from the 2 most important women in my life, my sister and my mother. Along with my friends, they've given me a tremendous support system. My character Sabine, is someone who just wants to be loved. Everyone in turn is like her. However not everyone would go to such dangerous lengths to achieve their goals. If I could give one piece of advice to everyone, it would be to just be yourself and as trite as it may sound, don't hate who you aren't, love who you are. If everyone remembers this, the world would be a lot happier place. You are all beautiful people, remember that! |
