When and where?

The ceremony will be a small affair for family only, and will be held at Chesterfield Register Office on New Beetwell Street.

The ceremony begins at
2.10pm on Friday 25th July 2003 and will last for approximately fifteen minutes, so please make sure you get there with some time to spare. For a map showing the location of Chesterfield Register Office, click here.

The Reception takes place the same day at 6.30pm, and carries on until 11.00pm at the Village Hall, Holymoorside, Derbyshire. A map showing the location of Holymoorside Village Hall is available if you click here.

Why Friday?

We thought it would be nice for friends and family who have to travel some distance to take the opportunity to stay on in beautiful Derbyshire for the weekend, so we’ve provided a few suggestions of places to go and things to see, all within easy reach of Chesterfield. For this, see below...

Accommodation

For a comprehensive list of accommodation in the area, check out the Visit Derbyshire and Visit Britain websites. We would particularly recommend the Ibis Hotel in the centre of Chesterfield, they can be contacted on
01246 813222
. There is also a Travel Inn to the north of the town, the number of which is 01246 560700.

Places to go / Things to see

Here is a small list of local attractions that we recommend:

The Peak District - Britain's first and most popular national park
Chatsworth House and Gardens – one of the country’s grandest stately homes
Bakewell – picturesque market town, home of the famous tart – taste the real thing, not the sugary Kipling’s rubbish
Scarthin’s Bookshop – my favourite bookshop on the face of the planet, it amazes me how it passes fire regulations with the number of books piled everywhere (Dave).
Haddon Hall – medieval hall, homelier than Chatsworth
Hardwick Hall - Elizabethan stately home, just south of Chesterfield
Chesterfield - home of the famous crooked spire
Matlock - Spa town with many attractions including caves, cable cars, shopping and walks
Arkwright’s Mill – one of the hotbeds of the industrial revolution
Buxton - another spa town, with attractions including an opera house, museums and impressive architecture
Caudwell Mill – craft centre and tea rooms
Denby Pottery - world famous pottery with visitor's centre, pottery shop (selling good quality seconds) and cafe
Sheffield Art Galleries - a varied and excellent programme of exhibitions
Meadowhall - one of the country's largest shopping centres
Crucible Theatre, Sheffield - also check out the Lyceum Theatre from this website
