Knitting Haven
Among other things, I'm a knitter. I've knit the ugliest scarf ever, on purpose. I knit a baby bootee with needles four sizes too big just to see what would happen. And I've discovered Lion Homespun yarns, and I love them. So I'm knitting a scarf in Shaker. It's so soft and fuzzy, I don't know if I'll be able to give it away.
On my journeys putzing about the internet, I've found several awesome knitting sites. Mostly I've been searching for patterns I need for a  price I can afford (read: free). I especially love knitty, because they have a new issue every season, in December, April, July, and September, which contains not only several appropriate patterns but intersting articles to read. They also keep an archive of their old issues so you always have access to their patterns.
My grandmother taught me to knit. I wanted to learn at seven, but my fingers couldn't get the hand of the needles and yarn, so we gave it another shot three years later, and it stuck. Somewhere along the line, though, I started holding the yarn in my left hand like a lefty knitter. I was taught to knit right-handed. But hey, weirder things have happened. My fingers just began to get the hang of purling a little after my fifteenth birthday, during my first adventure with double-pointed needles.

She also taught me to crochet, which I picked up right away, and actually do with both hands. I mess a lot of things up that way because I'll start them with one hand and pick it up with the other. Blech. I have found that it's easier to find crochet patterns than knitting patterns for things, especially ponchos and baby booties.
